Carlingford Here We Come...

It is an annual tradition in St.Wolstans for all TY's to take a trip to the Adventure Centre in Carlingford for a Team Building experience, and our year was no different. We went fot 2 days, the 17th and 18th of September. It was arranged that we all meet at the Esso garage for ten to 7, as the bus was leaving at 7 o'clock. It was an understatement to say we were all a little tired! The bus' arrived and we were off..

The bus journey didnt feel long as everyone was too excited and this excitment continued when we reached the Centre. We had a meeting in the vollyball court about the procedures in Carlingford and our scheduole for the day. We were put into 2 groups and the days activities bagan! My group did the Laser Tag first which was extremely fun. We were dressed like we were in the army and we each had laser guns. The laser turned out really well except for the long walk up a hill, but it was worth it. Mr. K turmed out to be a pro at the laser aswell!

When we had finished the laser we went back to the centre for luch with the rest of the girls. As soon as we were finished we were off again (no time for a rest!) . We were all very excited for our next activity which was kayaking. This by far was the best activity that we undertook. The weather wasn't in our favour but I think it made the experience even more fun. We all had to change into wetsuits, wear helmets and also life jackets. Me and Kate went together in a kayak and we set off on the sea. We turned out to be quite the kayakers! We all stopped at little shores along the way to play games, swim a little and also to take a trip into a magical tunnel. It was believed that if you put your head under the waterfall in the tunnel for 10 seconds you would have an extra day added to your life. Surprisingly all the girls were game for this freezing experience. After we had spent some more time out on the kayaks, we then returned to land and went back to the Centre for dinner.

The evening was very enjoyable as we had a night activing which was called the Night Line. This took place in the previous venue of the laser, but at night time. This experience was.. different, it was something that i had never done before. My group was lined up and we put our right hand on the shoulder in front of us and held on to a rope to guide us to the left. To make things even more interesting we were blindfolded. We had to dodge trees, rocks, wood houses and the instructors spraying us with water! It was certainly something i will never forget.

We then returned to the Centre for the night to spend time with the other girls and to have have a bit of fun :)

We were up bright and early the next day to commence with our second last activity which was the high ropes and zorbing. These were very fun but also scary at points. We did the zorbing first which was one of the best features at Carlingforld. Me and Ciara loved it so much we bouced and rolled down the hill in our ball twice. The high robes was next and my group went first. We had to get the 4 members standing on a square plate at the top of a pole - crazy right? I dont know how we did it but with the support of the instructers, the harnesses and the the other group members we all made it to the top. We felt so happy that we made it but relieved that we were returnbg to the ground.

After this we had lunch and went straight back out to do our last activity. This was the Team Challenge which was a serious of obsticles and tasks set around the competition area. Our team didnt have a great start but in the end we got the hang of it and got 10 gems. These games were also very enjoyable.

The mood of the group started to deteriate after we had finished the last activity as we know that we now had to head home. I think this showed just how much we all loved and enjoyed Carlingford!

We were so happy that we got the chance to go to Carlingford and it will be an experience that I will remember forever!

Thank you to Ms. L , Ms. B and Mr. K!

TY , The Adventure Begins...

Hey!

This is the first time I have ever done a blog, so wish me luck!

I'm now a week in TY and so far it's been really good. At first I was a bit worried about being in a class with new people and getting used to different classes and teachers, but now that im more settled in i am really enjoying it. I've been having classes that i've never had before and been making new friends, so things can only get better.

We had our first workshops yesterday based on positive thinking and work experience etiquette. There were three worshops in total, the Positive Party, BKM Inniú and Life Without Limits. Overall the workshops were good fun and were a great oppurtunity to take part in groupwork and getting to know the other girls. I hope that what we have experienced in the past week is just a taster of what TY is going to be like and that its going to get even better :)
